Local Philanthropy & Service

In addition to raising money and awareness for arthritis and related diseases, our sisters recognize the importance of giving back in many other ways.

Our chapter holds three philanthropy events on campus though out the school year. In the fall we hold our annual kickball tournament, Strike Out Arthritis. During this event we invite other member of the Greek community to create kickball teams and compete for the highly coveted SOA Trophy! Our second philanthropy event of the year is the Jingle Bell Run. This event is a 5k around campus in your best tacky christmas attire. This is a new event for our chapter and in the winter of 2017 we will host our 3rd annual JBR! Finally, in the Spring our chapter holds our signature Run for Roses 5k! Run for Roses is our biggest event of the year and is held on the Sunday of parents weekend. Our families and friends join our sisters in a 5k around campus raising money for the Arthritis Foundation!

In 2016, our chapter raised over $56,000 for the Arthritis Foundation and completed 5,400 community service hours!

Our chapter also partners with Pi Kappa Alpha and Pi Kappa Phi to help host Pie-A-Pi, raising money for a rotating philanthropy every year! AOII also hosts an annual "AOII goes Green Week". During this week we are raising awareness for juvenile arthritis. We spend this week in the spring passing out flyers with arthritis facts, wearing green all week, and hanging signs around school reminding the campus about the effects of arthritis
