New Member Program
The New Member Program of AOII, much like the educational mission of Alpha Omicron Pi, is all centered around a promise. This mutual agreement between new members and AOII helps our organization to grow and flourish, all while ensuring the development and integrity of our members.
The new member class will meet weekly to learn about AOII as they build their sisterhood. During these meetings, they will utilize the AOII membership education manual, The Promise, which provides more about AOII, our history, our policies and our principles.
In addition to learning about AOII, new members will also participate in scheduled Greek Life events and will support their fellow fraternity and sorority organizations’ philanthropic events. A new member retreat is held to allow members to bond as a group through a fun day or overnight trip together. The typical new member period lasts 6 to 8 weeks and is strategically planned to provide members with an exceptional new member experience. The culmination of this period includes AOII initiation preparation activities.
"I would like to challenge any person who tries to convince me that there is any time more exciting than Fall in the AOPi house. From reuniting with our sisters the first days of August, and spending every minute together for the next 15 days of recruitment as we strive to get a perfect pledge class. Then all of the celebrations that come with Bid Day, this day being one of the most exciting days of the year, as our sorority grows by 150+ new members. Then over the next 8 weeks, from the New Member Retreat, to Big/Little Reveal, Pledge Class movie nights, witnessing a couple of wins from the Crimson Tide, competing in Homecoming week, and finally to Initiation, time spent as a new member is sure to produce incredible memories. As New Member Educator, it is such an honor to transition these young women into our chapter. Our sisterhood grows bigger and stronger every year and I am so thankful that I get to be a part of it.
